Midnight’s Crown

Memorial marker for John (1808-1881) and Catherine McGregor (1811-1854) Dickson in Oxbow New Cemetery, off County Road 25, just east of Oxbow, Jefferson County, New York. Oxbow is a tiny hamlet along the Oswegatchie River. I’ve seen this type of gravestone several times for two people who want to emphasize their closeness in life, some more ornate than others. This unpretentious version stands proudly in the shade of an evergreen tree.
