In Memories Past

Headstone for Mary Gosling (c.1845-1883) in Hillside Memorial Cemetery, 723 N Main Street, Central Square, Oswego County, New York. James Roosevelt established Hillside in 1822 as Village Cemetery and became Hillside during the Civil War. Mary was the wife of George Gosling. I think the inscription reads:

Earth Has No Sorrow that Heaven Cannot Heal

It comes from a hymn by Irish poet Thomas Moore called “Come, Ye Disconsolate.” Mary must have been passionate about literature.
