While Heaven Wept

The gravestone of Jennie E. Hale-Caldea in Clayton Cemetery on James Street, south of Clayton, New York in Jefferson County. Draw your attention to the hand descending from heaven holding flowers. A hand pointed down is said to indicate a sudden or unexpected death, which makes sense given that Jennie died when she was only 26.

Clayton is a quaint town along the St. Lawrence River with an antique boat museum and a few shops along the river. I enjoy an occasional visit to the Lyric Coffee House farther up James Street, downtown.
